The Antegrade Femoral Nail (AFN Nailing System) is used for the surgical fixation of different types of fractures of the femur shaft including compound and simple shaft fractures, Proximal, metaphyseal, and distal shaft fractures, combination fracture with the patella, fractures in the subtrochanteric region, etc.
The entry point for Antegrade Nail during the fixation of femur shaft fracture are the greater trochanter tip or the piriformis fossa. Implants such as the Locking bolt, Proximal cannulated bolt, and Endcap are placed through the nail to secure it in place and maintain alignment & length while healing takes place. The ADROIT Antegrade Intramedullary Nail has multiple screw holes to allow surgeons to opt for suitable fixation depending upon the type of fracture.
